Paul Carver and Matthew Oakley are Bathurst’s only Law Society Accredited Business Law and Family Law Specialists having passed a vigorous assessment process conducted by the Specialist Accreditation Board of the Law Society of New South Wales.
Practitioners are required to undertake several forms of assessment that includes a review of their work, mock file, written exam and simulated interview that allows the Assessors to develop as accurate a picture as possible of the Applicant’s ability in their chosen area.
The Specialist Accreditation Scheme was developed by the Law Society of New South Wales to provide guidance to members of the public who need legal services in certain areas. It provides benefit to the public and the Profession by:-
- A reliable means of identifying Solicitors recognised by their peers and the Law Society as having special competence in an area of practice.
- Encouraging the improvement in the quality, speed and cost of legal services.
By becoming an Accredited Specialist, Solicitors are required to prove the quality of their professional performance and by doing so provides information for members of the public and to fellow Legal Practitioners that as a Specialist they have demonstrated proficiency in a particular area of Law.
Obtaining Specialist Accreditation is difficult and has become a prestigious achievement within the legal profession.
